Air Cargo Europe Konferenz: 11. Mai 2011, Forum5th International Conference for the Global Air Cargo Industry
The Air Cargo Business Today – Do the Security and Service
Standards Meet the Requirements? Forum Hall A4, 10:00 – 12:30

Impact on the Supply Chain" as well as "Air Freight – Do the
Service Levels Meet the Requirements?". The discussions will be
moderated by Mr Bernd Maresch (Managing Director, Hans Mars) and Mr Ian
Martin Jones (Editorial Director, A-Z Group Limited).
Security Requirements – Their Impact on the Supply ChainThe air cargo system is a complex, multi-faceted network that handles a
vast amount of freight, packages, and mail carried aboard passenger and
all-cargo aircraft. The air cargo system is vulnerable to several
security threats including potential plots to place explosives aboard
aircraft; illegal shipments of hazardous materials; criminal activities
such as smuggling and theft; and potential hijackings and sabotage by
persons with access to aircraft. Several procedural and technology
initiative to enhance air cargo security and deter terrorist and
criminal threats have been put in place or are under consideration
involving politics, technologies and airlines alike.
What are the air cargo industry’s security requirements: how are
they impacting the Supply Chain? High level representatives of
airlines, the security & forwarding industries and politicians will
discuss the matter right after the official opening of the event also
inviting the audience for insider questions.
Air Freight – Do the Service Levels Meet the Requirements?Air cargo is a business where ‘premier service should demand
premium rates’, but this is not always the case. With the
constant demand to cut costs from the supply chain, does this mean that
quality risks being reduced as well? A panel of experts from across the
air cargo industry – forwarders, airlines, handlers and general
sales agents – will present their views and then debate the
matter further through audience questions.
